Cirrus 72

The Original Giant Kata Tipi – Born in 1990 – Created by Tentipi

Product Overview

Our Cirrus 72 Nordic Tipi was the Original Giant Kata Tipi. Invented by Bengt Grahn of Tentipi AB, it is the largest tipi in the Cirrus range and the forefather and inspiration for all giant tipis that have followed.

This giant Nordic tipi measures 10.3 metres (33’10”) in diameter and can accommodate up to 72 people seated, or 80 standing. The main difference between this tipi and the Stratus 72, is that the sides cannot be raised – making the Stratus 72 a more flexible and versatile option where space is not an issue.

Whilst the sides cannot be raised, it does have three zip entrances, between two of which a canvas panel can be rolled up to create a wide entrance. The Cirrus 72 cannot be customised with covered entrances or awnings like other tents in the Cirrus range, but it can be kitted out with accessories such as matting, furniture and a fireplace to make a cozy and functional space.

It is a perfect option for anyone who doesn’t need the functionality to raise the sides, like on a Stratus 72, but who need a larger structure than the Cirrus 40.

 Defined by the Details

Outstanding Canvas

Using the best materials we find on the market, with long life expectancy and the right properties for your needs.
\

Lab tested Swedish timber

We lab-test our timber to measure its various characteristics and feed these into our structural calculations. The species of timber and the location in which it is grown, are vital to its strength.
\

Aesthetically pleasing poles

Our de-barked poles have a beautiful natural look, avoiding any machining or artificial staining common in processed timbers. As nature intended. Every pole is unique and contributes to the character of the tent.
\

Sewn in one piece

Rather than using the easier method of lacing, our canvases are sewn in one piece. By doing so we avoid the leak risks associated with the lacing method.
\

Three openings and a roll-up panel

One opening serves as a main entrance, the other two as reserve exits. Opening both reserve exits and rolling up the panel create an opening several metres wide.
\

Canvas attachment points

Two attachment points on each main pole. These 18 fasteners are crucial for our structural calculations. They increase wind resistance, prevent the canvas from rotating on the frame and play an important role in wind resistance.
\

In-Tent Vent™

The ventilator cap is easily adjusted from the inside with our patented system, for ventilation and smoke-clearance.
\

Ventilator cap

For venting out hot air and for smoke clearance when having an open fire inside the tent.
\

Top poles

Located in the top of the Nordic tipi to imitate projecting poles without compromising the water resistance of the cap.
\

Sustainable timber and no chemicals

Due to its immense strength, the specific species of spruce we use for our poles does not require the use of unpleasant chemicals to prevent rot.
\

Stakes

Comes with a set of our custom-made steel stakes for safe anchoring in most ground conditions. Packed in a heavy-duty bag made from off-cut tent fabrics.
\

Reinforced staking points

For securely strapping or anchoring the canvas.
\

Reinforcement edge

Reinforcement at the bottom of the tent where the most wear occurs. Stronger than the main fabric and with higher resistance to gravel, pointy rocks, moisture and rot.
